"Artie, It's been WAY too long since you last asked me out for a drink," You told your best friend, Arthur Kirkland.
"And that's precisely the reason I invited you here today!" He replied cheerily as the bartender pushed two glasses of beer your way. "Cheers!" Arthur exclaimed as he raised his glass into the air. You both lifted the mugs to your lips and took a swig of the beverage within. Swallowing, you sighed as you placed the glass back onto counter.
"How could it get any better than this?" You thought to yourself as you stared at Arthur. You would be lying if you said you didn't have any feelings for him, but you had never even HINTED them towards the beautiful Brit, in fear of rejection. He placed the mug back on the counter after slugging down a mouthful of beer. Turning to you, he smiled as he began to chat with you about the recent events in your mundane, everyday life. It went on like this for hours, talking about this, and that. You barely sipped on your drink that night. Arthur, on the other hand drank like there was no tomorrow...
"And then I said, no Becky, look at HER butt!" Arthur said as he let out a loud, obnoxious laugh, causing him to knock over his drink, AGAIN. You had lost count of how many he had that night, though by the way he was acting, you were certain it was more than enough.
"Er, miss? Is he going to be alright?" The bartender asked as he polished an empty wineglass.
"Yeah, he'll be fine. He always gets like this when he drinks," You said with a sigh and a smirk.
"What're you talkin' about...?! You don't know me! YOU DON'T RUN MY LIFE!" Arthur shouted as he stood up. He wobbled a bit, but regained his balance by grabbing onto the bar-stool.
"C'mon, Artie, we're leaving." You said calmly as you paid the bartender. Gathering your things, you stood up and motioned for Arthur to follow you.
"N-No! I'm not going, and there's nothing you can do about it!" Arthur exclaimed.
"Yep, you're definitely drunk. Let's go, Arthur!" You said as you dragged him out by the sleeve. "Thank You!" You called to the bartender as you waved with your free hand.
"LET GO OF ME, YOU BLOODY GIT!" Arthur shouted as he tried to resist your strength. It was no use, and soon you had reached your car. Since Arthur was obviously unfit to drive, you guided him into the passenger's seat as you started the engine. Making sure he was strapped in, you began to head for Arthur's house. Once you arrived, you parked the car in Arthur's driveway, and asked him for the keys. He groggily handed you the item in question, as he unbuckled his seatbelt. Standing up, he wobbled over to you, stood there for a moment, then collapsed in your arms. Sighing, you picked him up bridal style and carried him to the door. Once inside, you dropped the keys off at the counter and continued upstairs to his bedroom. Upon entering Arthur's room, he began to stir in your arms. He groaned as you set him down on the bed.
"_____? What happened...?" He asked as he stretched. "And what are you doing in my room?!" He exclaimed, suddenly panicked, though you didn't know why.
"You passed out in the driveway, so I brought you inside," You explained. He stared at you for a moment, then began to chuckle.
"Y-Y'know, you have really pretty eyes," Arthur stammered.
"W-what are you talking about?" You asked as your face turned a bright shade of red. "Did he seriously just say that? Or was it the alcohol talking..." You thought to yourself.
"A-and you know what else? Your hair is sooo perfect" He continued. "Listen, I'll tell you a secret," Arthur whispered as he scooted closer to you. "But you have to PROMISE not to tell _____." You choked back laughter as you nodded silently. "I like someone~!" he sang as he giggled. "But you have to guess who!" He exclaimed.
"I don't know, who?" you asked, just to humor him. You smiled, thinking of how childish the two of you were acting.
"I like... _____!" He said, grinning like a madman.
"W-what?!" You said, barely above a whisper, as your heart began to race.
"Oops! When did you get here, _____? You weren't supposed to hear that~" He said as he shook his finger at you, sort of like a mother scolding her child. You were almost certain it was the alcohol, now. Standing up, you turned to leave. You were rather disappointed, simply because you were convinced he didn't like you that way. "I have to go. Bye Ar-" Your words were cut short by Arthur's lips crashing onto yours. You were shocked by the sudden action, but quickly regained your composure as you kissed back with equal force.
"Why won't the world just go away..." Arthur moaned from the breakfast table. You had decided to stay the night at his place, since you knew he would need taking care of in the morning. "Thanks for staying, love. But you know, you didn't have to!"
"I know, but I don't mind," You replied as you continued to cook Arthur's breakfast. "Artie, you have NO IDEA how drunk you were last night." You said as you smiled.
"I'm pretty sure I do," Arthur replied with a sigh.
"Oh really?" You smirked as you plated up the eggs. Walking over to his side, you placed his food in front of him. "If that's so, then did you really mean it when you told me you loved me?" You asked him. Arthur's head shot up from the table.
"W-what are you talking about?!" He asked as his face turned completely red. "D-did I really say that?"
"Absolutely. And that's not all: You actually kissed me, too." Arthur groaned.
"Well, if you must know, yes. I did mean it." He said, quickly and quietly.
Your heart skipped a beat.
"In that case, I love you too." You returned as you kissed him lightly on the cheek.
