(Soul x Reader) My Heart, My Soul: Chapter 2

"God, that was so BORING," Soul whined as you left the room.

"Yeah.." you agreed, letting out a loud sigh. Today's class was absolutely exhausting. It covered the history and creation of weapons, as well as their origins. It sounded intriguing at first, yes, but the thought that the lesson could be anything other than boring and long-winded was quickly thrown out the window.

"Anyways, would you like to eat lunch with me?" Soul asked. You jerked you head up, looking at him. You had assumed that Soul walking you to class was just a nice gesture, but he seemed to be making a real effort! Something that no one had ever done for you before.

"Absolutely! I usually eat on the balcony, though, if that's fine with you."

"Sure, whatever. Cool guys like me don't care, as long as they get fed." You held back a snort of laughter at his sudden arrogance.

After a quick pit-stop at the lockers, you and Soul both sat down. Soul pulled out a bag, containing a sandwich, and began to eat. Watching him made you realize you forgot to pack your food, as you mentally face-palmed.

Soul must have noticed as well, because he was staring at you with concern. "Don't you have any food?" he asked.

You shook your head, sighing. "I guess I was in such a rush, I forgot to pack anything," you replied meekly. "Come to think of it, I don't think I ate breakfast either."

"What time did you get up?"

"Oh, about six-thirty." You replied.

"Six-thirty? But school doesn't start till' seven! You had at least another half hour."

"I know, but It's a thirty minute walk from here and my apartment." Your new apartment wasn't ideal, but it was all you could afford.

"That's totally uncool. I can't do much about your housing situation, but you can have my lunch if you want. I only took a small bite. Here-" He ripped off the small portion of the sandwich that had been near his mouth, then held it out to you.

"Ar-Are you sure? I mean, I'm not trying to force you to give me food!" You stuttered.

"It's fine!" Soul laughed "It's just a sandwich, don't worry about."

Soul smiled at you, showing off an extremely pointy set of teeth. "It's just that... You know what, never mind. It doesn't matter." You figured Soul wouldn't want to hear about how you couldn't handle a few kids.

"What?" Soul asked, obviously intrigued. You sighed, knowing there was no way of avoiding the conversation.

"Well, I moved here about a month ago, and you're the first person to talk to me. Well, the first person to talk to me like a person with emotions, at least." You smiled at him brightly.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"There's this group of kids. Actually, there's only three of them. They're such jerks to me! I know I shouldn't let them get to me, but sometimes- UGH, they just rub my skin the wrong way, you know? I don't usually take what they say to heart, but sometimes..." you trailed off, recalling the names thrown at you the other day.

"Who are they?" He asked, a twinge of annoyance in his voice.

"I don't even know them! I'm not even sure they know me, yet they always have something new to say to me, every day without fail."
You sighed.

"You know what? If those kids EVER bother you again, just tell me, and I'll take care of them, if you catch my drift." You chuckled and nodded your head. "So, I never asked. Are you a weapon or a meister?

"I'm a weapon. A chainsaw, to be exact." A flash of light emitted from your shoulder and downwards, then your arm was replaced with the blade of a chainsaw.

"Badass!" Soul exclaimed, earning a laugh from the two of you. "I'm a scythe." He transformed his arm as the two of you chatted about this and that. Before you knew it, the bell for lunch to end interrupted your conversation. "You know, _____, you're pretty cool. Wanna hang out after school?"

"Of course, I'd love too!"
