Literature Text

You found yourself standing in the middle of a pitch black room. It was completely silent, except for your own breathing. "H-Hello?" You called into the darkness. No reply. You decided to walk forward, hoping that you would find a door or an exit. Pressing on, you felt around for a wall, but it seemed as if the room never ended. You heard a feint cough in the distance, and called out again. "Hello? Is anybody there?" You said loudly, running towards the source of the sound. You saw a slightly illuminated figure in the distance. The figure began coughing again, and you ran faster to see if the person was alright. Upon closer inspection, you found it was a man. "Sir? Are you alright?" You asked him. Slowing down, you began to walk briskly towards him. You finally reached him, and inspected the man. You were taken aback as you realized his face was blank, except for a mouth. "S-Sir? Are you...?" You said, slowly backing away. The man groaned and began to follow you. You kept moving backwards until you bumped into something. You turned around to find a woman, who also had a blank face with a mouth. They both began to follow you. "They... can't be human... There's no way!" You said softly to yourself. They both kept emitting grunts and groans, as if they were struggling to walk, or they were in pain. You couldn't take it anymore!  Turning around, you began to run from the creatures as they chased after you. The two "things" were always a mere step behind you, and they ran fast. You were beginning to get tired, but pushed on anyways. You tried changing your direction multiple times, but you couldn't shake them off. You finally gave in and collapsed in exhaustion. You thought you were done for, but the two beings stopped as well. They began to have a coughing fit, and you so this as your chance. Standing up, you changed your arm into your weapon form. You stood up, and slowly crept over to them, so not to be noticed. Once you reached them, you slashed open the creatures. They screeched as they fell onto the ground. Once you were certain they were dead, you walked back over to the creatures and looked down at them. "What... are you?" You thought aloud. As if to answer your question, the creature's faces began to morph into the faces of your mother and father. You took a moment to let it sink in, then you slowly dropped to your knees. "It can't be...It can't possibly..." You whispered, shaking your head. Tears began to run down your face. "N-no...no...NOOOOOO!" You screamed as you grabbed your head.

{Soul's POV}

I hadn't been able to sleep all night. I was tired, yes, but for some reason, I couldn't fall asleep. I had been up all night, doing whatever I could to keep myself busy. I decided to pass more time by getting a drink. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. Turning back to my room, I heard _____ mumble something. "N-n...no...please..." She tossed around a bit, and fell off the couch. It didn't seem to phase her at all, so I walked over to her and lifted her back up onto the couch. "Please.....Someone...help..." She mumbled again. "____?" I said as I shook her. She responded by trying to slap me away. "No...don't...." She said.

{Your POV}

Your mother and father rose up from the ground. They stoop there for a moment, then began to mumble "_____....come with us, _____". They began to walk towards you. You quickly stood up and began to run. This time, your parents couldn't run because of the injury. However, the ground began to melt, and you started to sink. You finally stopped when the strange black liquid reached your knees. Your parents stopped in front of you and smiled insanely. "____, come be with us now" They said, slowly. Your father then pulled you out of the blackness and held you up to your mother. Your mother pulled out a large syringe from her pocket. It was filled with a weird, green liquid. "Come be with us. Come be with us." They said, over and over again. "No, don't! NO! NOOO!" You screamed frantically. You tried kicking your father, but no matter what you did, he refused to let go. "LET GO! LET ME GO!" It was useless. Your mother pulled your shirt up, revealing your stomach. Your mother inserted the syringe. You immediately felt hot, and began to cough and sputter. Your father dropped you, and you began to feel lightheaded. "W-what did you do to me?!" You asked your parents. "We've simply done to you what happened to us, my dear child. The syringe I gave you was filled with the virus, and I added a few modifications to speed up the process." Your mother said sweetly as she smiled. "Why did you do this to me?!?" You said, frightened. "You've always wished for us back, haven't you? We're simply doing what you asked for, darling! Once the virus kills you, you can be with us, forever!" Your father said, as he walked over to your mother. The virus had almost completely invaded your body. "This is NOT what I asked for! I wanted to LIVE with you, not DIE with you!" You yelled. "Well, if you don't want to be with us, I suppose we could just leave you with the virus, to suffer forever." Your mother replied. "W-what?! No! NO!" You screamed as chains appeared around your ankles and wrists. You struggled for a while, then changed your arm into a chainsaw to try to break them. It was no use; they wouldn't budge. Your parents sighed. "This is the punishment for being ungrateful." Your mother said as she turned to walk away. "You had your chance to be with us..." Your father said as he followed your mother. "NOOO! DON'T LEAVE M-" Your screaming was cut off by a violent coughing fit. Each time you tried to open your mouth to speak, only coughing and sputtering was heard.

{Soul's POV}

____ was kicking at nothing now, and I was begging to get worried. "_____!" I said loudly. I shook her harder this time. She finally woke up, but instead of opening her eyes, she continued to hit me. "No! Don't leave me here!" She said as reality slowly came back to her. She finally opened her eyes and looked around. "What...Happened..." she said to me. "I was getting some water, and you started to stir. You fell off the couch, so I put you back on it. You kept saying weird things, though." I explained. "Like what?" "Don't, Put me down, Help" I replied. "Oh..." she said quietly. She was silent. "Are you OK?" I asked her. "Yeah..." she said, although I could tell she was lying. "Do you want something? Like a pillow or a blanket?" I offered. "Sure." She said. I went to retrieve a spare blanket from under my bed, and grabbed one of my pillows. I returned to the living room and handed both to her. "Thanks..." She said as she smiled weakly at me. I could tell that tears were building up in her eyes, so I walked back to my room, and cracked the door: just enough so that I could see ____ without her noticing. As soon as I left, she burst into tears. She clutched the pillow tightly and shoved her face into it, so not to be heard. "Mom...Dad.... Why did you leave me here?!" She sobbed quietly. Although her voice was muffled, I could understand what ____ was saying. She'd obviously had a nightmare. I didn't know what to do, though. Should I go out there and talk to her? Should I stay quiet? "Why didn't the fever just kill me?! It would have been less painful than to live alone without you!" I heard her say. I felt horrible. I couldn't take it anymore: I walked out of my room and sat down on the couch next to her. She looked up from the pillow to me. "Did you hear all that?" She asked softly. I nodded. "I'm really sorry" She said as she stuffed her face back into the pillow. "It's fine." I told her. "So, what'd you have a nightmare about?" I asked. "It's obvious?" She asked me through sniffles. "Very." I said, chuckling. I listened as she explained her dream to me. "I get them just about every night, but I didn't realize I was that loud about it." She said, laughing. "It's not your fault." I reassured her. "I was awake anyways." "Look at me; I barely know you, and yet I'm sleeping on your couch, making you comfort me. I'm REALLY sorry! God, I'm such a terrible guest..." She said as she smiled. "It's fine, really! And you're NOT a terrible guest! I don't know anyone who gets invited over and COOKS for them!" I told her. She smiled at me. "Thanks, Soul." She said as she hugged me. I stood up and smiled at her. "Night!" I said to her.
